Resting in the hands of Almighty God

Last weekend, I held a ten pound infant in my arms. We were at a church event and all the kids were having a blast! There was laughter, food, games and music. Everyone was having a good time.

Holding this baby in my arms was an important task. I had to shield him and protect him from all hurt, harm and danger- seen and unseen. I even felt compelled to protect what we heard.

The music was blaring; yet, he wasn’t bothered. Not as nearly as much as me. I thought: his ear drums are like the size of peanuts, his lungs the size of tea bags and his brain, the size of an apricot. All I wanted at that moment, was to shield this precious new child from a secular world.

Today, I reminisce on this. God feels the same way about us. He’s holding us in His hands. Wanting to shield and protect us all from the ungodly contents of this world.

So, on this day Lord God, I thank you! I thank you for new grace and new mercy on this day. I thank you for covering me. I feel your mighty, compassionate hand on me. I pray this day be a day spent, that is pleasing in your sight. I pray for the opportunity to share your goodness, to uplift and encourage whosoever is in need of your word. For all that you’ve done for me, how could I ever repay you? I love you Jesus! I love you Holy Spirit! I love you Heavenly Father! In Jesus name, I pray, Amen.

Faith Friday

Faith- “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and CERTAIN of what we do not see.”- Hebrews 11:1

Faith is the link to our Creator, God Almighty. To have access in the spiritual realm requires total faith in God the Father, Jesus, the son of God, and the Holy Spirit.

Faith and doubt don’t coincide with one another. Worry doesn’t exist in the realm of faith. But faith and trust live together. In other words, you can’t doubt what you hope for.

When Jesus of Nazareth healed anyone, there was only one requirement, one prerequisite, one necessity- FAITH! Not money, gold nor silver, not social status or class, but FAITH! So, if we believe with total certainty the promises of God, as it’s written in His word. And trust that whatsoever you need from God, He shall deliver according to His will.

You may ask, “What is His will? What are these promises you mentioned?” God’s will and promises (along with clear ‘how to’ instructions) are located in the bible.

It’s your choice to decide, to have faith or not. And God said, He can work with a mustard seed of faith (paraphrasing). There’s NEVER loss in faith. There’s ALWAYS gain.

Faith in the mature believer should be used to build up the church and community. I learned that having faith for others, builds up my faith as well. Faith indeed, grows!

I petition you to increase your faith today by hoping with certainty, the healing and deliverance for someone else in need. See that person completely restored, walking in victory. God will get the glory!

Wisdom is a Process

Proverbs chapter 9 screenshot_20181009-223414_google7444723137511983948.jpg
The meat for me was verse 10: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.”
Clearly, wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord. Those who don’t fear the Lord, don’t have wisdom. So, what does that look like? What does it mean to fear the Lord?
When I began to allow my mind to wonder on this concept, I compared our connection with God, to one’s connection with their soul-mate. There’s a process involved before we even get to the “fear of the Lord.” And it flows something like this:
1. Earthly: A man and woman who meet, both know they’re soul-mates. How? Their togetherness brings the same feelings as home brings.
Spiritual: Once we recognize that Jesus is calling, we give our attention to that calling. How do we know Jesus is calling? You get a tug that feels like home when your internal being has felt homeless. Next step is communication.
2. Earthly: You engage in conversation, you laugh, you establish a respectful and effective way to communicate. You get to know his/her likes and dislikes.
Spiritual: Prayer and Study. When we pray, we are communicating to God. But when we read our bible, HIS word, that’s God communicating to us. Next is, presence=faithfulness and commitment.
3. Earthly: You go on dates, you spend more time in his/her presence. You show affection by embracing them. You want to show them how much they matter to you. That you are faithful and committed to the relationship despite what your ego and others may say. Your focus is loving him/her unconditionally. And you know that love is a verb- it’s action.
Spiritual: Being in HIS presence through praise and worship. We show our level of commitment by being faithful in attending church. We don’t miss a Sunday because we’re too tired or have a headache. We want to show HIM we’re serious about this relationship. We are devoted to HIS will. Finally, is reverence.
4. Earthly: Trust and Honor. Your nature is submissive. Being submissive is not having a leash around your neck. It’s being flexible to your mate’s change. You’re vulnerable. Yet safe and secure enough to expose deep, personal and intimate things because your heart approves.
Spiritual: Trust and Honor. We’ve been so engaged with God that we know more of HIS secret ways. We see HIM more in ALL living creations. We yield to HIS will because we trust and honor HIM. The Holy Fear comes naturally because of who HE is. It’s not a “I’m scared to mess up because then HE will beat me” type of fear. This fear originates out of respect because of who God is. It’s anchored in hope. It grows by faith. And is fed by love. This here. This right here is the beginning of wisdom.
