No Room for Distractions

Her focus is solely on the birth.

For, her instincts whispered: “This one is mighty. It will rock the earth.

Now, be ready- One day is set for painful contractions.

You have no room for distractions.”

She trusted. And for 22 months and not one complaint-

Throughout the land, her peace is maintained.

Not all understand this drive to the extreme;

It’s a vision of love embedded deep- it’s more than a dream.

She is on a mission.

To bring what’s inside of her, to fruition.

What All Heroes Do

I watched you care:

You encouraged the shattered

You stitched up the wounded

Rebuilt the fallen hero

Your faith quenched their arrows

I watched you fight:

You carried the exhausted

You reported the assaulted

Protected the innocent

Your armor was not militant

I watched you lead:

You steered thru scattered ruins

You advanced out of confusion

Restrained the hostile ones

Your heart preached from other tongues

Words of Exhortation

I want to encourage you with the same words I received last week from my pastor.  And that is, “You are in transition.  God will not allow you to fall.”

Transition can take many forms: for instance, labor.  The experience can be one of intense pain, practically unbearable.  But you know the pain won’t last forever and at the end lies the greatest reward.  Or, it can be quick and sudden like changing gears in a car.  Or, it can be long and gloomy with no light at the end of the tunnel.  In the midst of darkness, you lose sight of God’s presence and feel He has abandoned you.

But I’m here to tell you saints, Don’t Give Up!  I’ve learned that no matter how uncomfortable the period of transition is- change is a good thing.  That is how things evolve into something new: a caterpillar into a butterfly; an embryo into a fetus; an egg into a chick.  Therefore, don’t resist the process of transition: trust it and embrace it with gladness.  The ultimate goal is to become like Jesus.  So, surely God will not allow you to fall!

The Church Window

Every Sunday I watch out my church window

Thinking something will move, something out there will change

But the cold air in February freezes time,

So, I rest soundly on HIS creation in the meantime

The clouds become my pillow

Every Sunday I stare out my church window

Hoping I catch a revelation, maybe from a swaying twig or two…I do

the white brisk sky illuminates dusty limbs

I see branches with life extend

from my lungs and trees, I take a breath

Breathing for my existence to continue.  I say thank you…

Every Sunday I can’t ignore my church window

There’s a surprise waiting for me, this I know

Meanwhile, the stillness creates a melody for me to hear

Tunes from my secret heart, I listen for the intro

I Am Calm is the song; because I stared out my church window 20180217_143131.jpg

It’s The Small Things….

Today, I was in the workroom, which is a place where our mailboxes are located, fax machine, and copier.  Even the cookies that are freshly baked every day, can be found in this room.  While the receptionist walked in and out, I stood there struggling to detach this staple from a document because I couldn’t find a staple remover.

Approximately, one hour later, I went back to the same old workroom and as usual needed a staple remover. As I gathered the paperwork, there was a staple remover in clear sight.  My inside shouted, “YES!”  Amazingly, I had a good guess who placed that staple remover there.  I peeked around the door and asked the receptionist, “Did you put this staple remover in here?” As I held it in my hand.  She smiled, “Yes. Awl you noticed that?  Thank you!  WOW!”

As I removed the staple with ease, I write the words felt in my spirit.

It’s the small things….

Something so small as a darn staple remover, proved to be confirmation of HIS Holy Word

The receptionist, who manages the office, saw one of the workers had a need

She supplied it without making a shout, I didn’t have to ask

She gently placed what I needed within my reach, in clear view

Just as Our Heavenly Father watches HIS children

To ensure they have everything they need!

“And my God will meet ALL your needs according to the riches of HIS glory in Christ Jesus.”- Philippians 4:19

Mothering Reflects God- A Mother’s Day Poem

Just like the womb, our planet earth supports all forms of life.

Not speaking of a wife, housewife or even a midwife.

It is time to express who the mother is to us all.

She accepts change with beauty and grace: she flows like a waterfall.

She rises every morning to care for her young.

Mom carries the torch for all to see; yes, just like the sun.

Through struggle and trouble, she won’t fall apart.

She holds steadfast despite the weather; blooming like a bleeding heart.

Mother teaches humans to express emotion.

Her tears of pain and joy; enough to fill an ocean.

She works hard to supply; her youth comes from a fountain.

Mother, an imprint of God’s work, that of a mountain.

Her spirit of concern and comfort, comes with a guarantee.

Life as it exists, shall protect and shield us all; like the summer trees.

And we should take care of her, earth, to preserve the perfectly balanced planet that utilizes all the energy inside of her to keep moving around a source of light, the sun.

And we should take care of her, mother, to preserve all existence on fertile ground, for she is the chosen vessel to bring forth life, from God Almighty.

Isaiah 66:13 “As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem.”     .

Connected, Bonded, and Linked with All Creations…

Are we all, really connected?  Yes, I’ve heard of the concept but, what does that really entail?  To be quite honest, I don’t feel connected to the racist skinhead who spews hatred, every chance they get.  I don’t feel connected to a pedophile who looks at children as sex symbols.  So, I had to dig deep and find what this really means.  And this is what I’ve concluded thus far.

All of God’s creations seem to have many characteristics that are alike.  Take for instance, the physical likeness of ROOTS.  Not the movie Roots, but the sprout out like roots, seen in plants and trees.  But, if we look at the circulatory system of the brain, heart and lungs, we’ll see they’re very similar.

Consider, all the amazing things that are in the shape of a circle; they all have a CORE.  For instance, travel up beyond the clouds, and see how similar the stars, sun, planets and black holes are to all living cells and its nucleus.

Take into account, the cochlea of the ear that’s uniquely shaped like the snail, a snake embryo and a particular type of seashell.  And of course, we can’t forget the kidneys. They’re shaped like a shrimp and just like the bean- kidney beans.

I always pondered what lies on the other side of a black hole.  Suddenly, this evening I thought, what if the other side is something like the optic nerve.  Amazingly, I find the black hole so similar to the pupil and iris.  For, the function of the optic nerve, is to transfer the images from the retina directly to the brain and back.  It’s mind-blowing to think about this possibility.  Since, one optic nerve has over a million of nerve fibers attached.  Can you imagine how much energy is behind the black hole?  Jaw-dropping!

So, my final analysis is this: obviously, all God’s creations are more similar than not. Which, proves that Yes; we’re connected in a divine way.  We’re linked in a way that surpasses our understanding.  That, I’m sure given the patience and wisdom, we could see that all of the answers to our problems- are found in each other.  That maybe, just maybe the ants and flies that get on our nerves, may be the answer to the common cold.  Every problem has a solution, right?  And maybe just maybe, behind every black hole is an optic nerve like structure.  Which is directly linked to a brain center……
